DISTILLERY 98

  • CUSTOM OYSTER SHELL FILTRATION
  • 5 GALLON/MINUTE CONTINUOUS STILL

A UNIQUE, ECO-FRIENDLY SOLUTION FOR CONTINUED GROWTH.

THE CHALLENGE

Distillery 98 is a Florida-grown micro-distillery with a focus on sustainability, locality, and community connection

Given their core values, Distillery 98 required inventive solutions that would align with an eco-friendly attitude—affording them a differentiating edge that could meet the mission at hand and continue to drive business.

Their unique idea—an advanced vodka still that used local oyster shells as a means for the filtration system

Distillery 98 called upon StillDragon to custom-craft a still that would use local oyster shells for filtering

THE SOLUTION

StillDragon jumped aboard from the beginning—working hands-on and consulting with Distillery 98 for the initial build-out and optimization of an oyster shell filtration still to start producing their flagship vodka, Half Shell Vodka.

This process not only met their locality emphasis, using oyster shells sourced just right down the road, but also allowed for a much more eco-friendly filtration process—tying into their cardboard packaging for Half Shell Vodka, which succeeds using a manufacturing process that uses six times less carbon than a glass bottle

THE RESULTS

Because of Half Shell Vodka, its distilling process, packaging, and overall one-of-a-kind taste, Distillery 98 has seen tremendous growth. They’re looking to greatly increase production, which will involve moving from a batch still to a continuous still, designed by none other than StillDragon.

StillDragon’s new continuous still for Distillery 98 is 30 feet tall and capable of producing 5 gallons of product per minute. This is an expansion of 10X for Distillery 98’s mashing and distilling process.

StillDragon was thrilled to guide and facilitate innovative solutions that led to massive growth for another Florida-spirits-nerd. As Distillery 98 continues to expand, StillDragon stands by their side, on guard, and ready to fulfill the next unique idea that’s brought forth.
